Character addresses
Th. J. Wehlim is accused in court to have sold illegally more than two million private addresses of novel characters. According to the lawyers of a large publisher association, Wehlim had automatically scanned nearly every novel of American literature of the last three decades, including all master works of Franzen, DFW and DeLillo, identified all characters and their private addresses, and sold the data to insurance companies and the yellow press. Wehlim denies all allegations. If convicted, he faces thirty years imprisonment.
