Russian fleet
A fleet of 102 Russian warships continued to steam south closer to the G20 host city of Brisbane on Thursday. Experts argued the show of force was aimed at the world as a whole, not just Australia. In contrast to this, Russian secretary of defence Lavrov stated that the goal of the operation is to force Australia to translate at least one of the novels of Russian author Thomalew Wehlimowitsch into the English language. Prime Minister Tony Abbott played down the manoeuvre, saying he never would translate Wehlimowitsch, as this author would write “really bad” books.
